Akron Urban League's Dining with Santa

On Saturday, I, along with Zaina Ennis, volunteered at the Dining with Santa event at the Akron Urban League.  Below is a video capturing the event.

New Pageant, New Title

I have chosen to compete in the 2012 Miss Ohio Essence Pageant. It is a pageant focuses on the empowerment of young women across the "Buckeye State" to become leaders in their community, role models, mentors, and goal-oriented and is open to all ethnicities.

I will be representing Akron as Miss Akron Essence.  This will be the first year for the Ohio Essence Pageant. This is a multi-title pageant meaning there is a Teen, Miss, Mrs., and Ms category.  This will be a birthday pageant for me being held April 6-7, 2012 in Dayton, Ohio (my birthday is April 8th), and oh, how sweet it would be to come home with a new title and the honor of representing Ohio at the Miss Essence Pageant.

November 2011

 

I started my November with a huge fundraising event by the Habitat for Humanity of Summit County; A Night to Build Hope was held November 4th at the Portage Country Club. There was a dessert room, caricaturist, and photo booth.

During the event, I sold tickets for the $1,000 raffle that was drawn at the end of the event. Between the silent and live auction and the money rose from the raffle the event brought in over $40,000. That is more than enough money for half of a house. It was a great night, and it was an honor to be part of the organizing committee for this event.

The last weekend of the month, I participated in the Akron Welcome Santa Parade. I was really excited to be in this parade, since the last time I had I was 4 and sat in the back of a pick-up truck with the rest of the young dancers in my tap group. I shared a car with Zaina Agbo, Ms Northeast Essence. It was so amazing to see how many people came to the event, and the weather was amazing, especially for the end of November. Thank you to Serpentini for allowing us to borrow an amazing Camaro for the parade.

This Friday: A Night to Build Hope

This Friday, November 4th, is Habitat for Humanity of Summit County's 4th annual A Night to Build Hope. The event will be held at Portage Country Club with Honorary Chair, Captain Sylvia Trundle. A limited number of tickets are still available. You can purchase them online today.

Individual tickets are $75.00 per person.
Couples tickets are $135.00 per couple.

Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes

On Sunday, October 2nd, I participated in the Akron Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes.  I was asked by Zaina Agbo Ennis to join her team, Team Ms. Northeast Essence.  It was a very cold and windy Sunday morning, but we braved the cold and walked 2 miles downtown Akron.
